Summer's Almost Here - Are You Ready?

Well, summer and it's blazing heat are on their way... heat, either dry or humid can wreak havak on our hair. It can be very drying, and also fade color very quickly! Here are a few tips to keep your natural and chemically treated hair healthy this summer!

1. A hat is always the best, but not all of us are hat kinda people.

2. A good leave-in conditioner with an SPF of any level will be helpful, this will protect not only natural, but also make a big difference with fading in color treated hair!

3. Try to use a good antihumectant, and a thermal protectant in your hair, especially if you have naturally curly hair, and are straightening it, these really do make a difference.

4. CHLORINE... we all need the pool to keep us cool, so here are some ways to protect your hair from the damages of chlorine...

a. Before jumping into the pool, wet your hair in the pool shower, or even a water bottle... your hair is like a sponge, so if you wet it before jumping into the pool... your hair will have soaked up regular water rather than the chlorinated pool water. This will help with drying, and color fading also!

b. Take a water bottle with a small amount of conditioner mixed into it to the pool with you... this is great for when you get out of the pool... spray it in your hair and with a large tooth comb distribute the water and conditioner through your hair.

c. When combing your hair, always start from the ends and work your way up the hair shaft..don't just rip through your hair..not only does this damage and break your hair, but by starting at the top and yanking your way down, you are only tightening those knots!

5. While laying in the sun (don't forget to spray with water and conditioner mix, or a leave-in conditioner) it is a good idea to cover your hair... either wrap it in a towel or lay a towel over top of you hair.. this will prevent color fading, and also help with the drying effects of the sun.

6. Always try to shampoo and condition your hair after a day at the pool..you'll want to get as much leftover chlorine out of your hair as possible!

7. Getting regular trims (even if it's a 1/4 inch), makes a huge difference in the health of your hair... those split ends aren't gonna heal, they just keep splitting and breaking.

8. Last but not least... use PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS... they without a doubt make an enormous difference!
