Over time perming and coloring damage hair to such an extent where it becomes brittle or can even start to fall out. To test your hair take out a single strand from both sides of your scalp. Pull on both ends of the strand and see if it breaks easily. Should it break easily it is not advisable to dye your hair. Also look for excessive split ends and if too many are seen begin getting more regular trims.
